The Reality
Why Investment in Youth
and Families Matters
When youth and families lack stability, the impact extends far beyond the present moment. Across Los Angeles, rising housing costs and economic pressures are increasing the risk that short-term challenges become long-term barriers.
Without consistent support, early instability can limit access to education, employment, and long-term opportunity. Strategic investment at this stage creates lasting, generational change.
OUR APPROACH
Breaking Cycles,
Building Futures
Youth (ages 10-30) and families are at the heart of St. Joseph Center’s mission because this is where generational change begins. Through a client-centered continuum of care, we connect youth and families to housing support, nourishing food, mental health services, and pathways to education and employment.
By meeting immediate needs while strengthening long-term stability, our programs help individuals and families build futures defined not by crisis, but by opportunity.

Youth Programs
Supporting Youth During Pivotal Years
Young people often face challenges that extend beyond housing alone. Family conflict, unsafe home environments, foster care involvement, justice system interaction, and disrupted education can create barriers that make it harder to move forward. St. Joseph Center’s youth programs help young people navigate these realities and access new opportunities.
Youth Resource Team
Support for Youth (Ages 10-30)
Since 2014, the Youth Resource Team has provided individualized case management for youth navigating housing instability, emotional challenges, and barriers to work and school. Participants are connected to housing, mental health care, and educational and workforce opportunities as they work toward personal and financial independence.
In March 2026, Berkeley Station, a first-of-its-kind housing community in Santa Monica, opened with dedicated units for St. Joseph Center’s youth. Access to housing is one of the most important prevention strategies to keep youth from falling into homelessness. Berkeley Station provides much-needed stability for youth enrolled in our Youth Resource Team program.
