KCAL/KCBS reporter Jasmine Viel visited St. Joseph Center’s Bread and Roses Café in Venice as the program celebrated 35 years of serving the community.

Bread and Roses Café provides more than 600 free meals each week in a restaurant-style setting, offering guests a welcoming place to enjoy a meal while also connecting them with additional St. Joseph Center services and support.

The segment speaks with guests and staff about what Bread and Roses means to the community. One guest, Wayne, describes the café as a place where people are treated with care and respect.

For 35 years, Bread and Roses Café has brought together food, hospitality, and connection as part of St. Joseph Center’s broader work supporting people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles.
