St. Joseph Center Celebrates Latino Heritage Month
Happy Latino/x Heritage Month! As we begin Latino Heritage Month and celebrate Mexican Independence Day on September 16th, we want to take a moment to honor the richness and diversity of Latino cultures, traditions, and histories. This is a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of the Latino/x community, not just in our broader community, but also here at St. Joseph Center, where the spirit of service, resilience, and community is embodied by so many.
Our mission at St. Joseph Center – to provide working poor families, as well as homeless men, women, and children of all backgrounds, with the resources and support they need to achieve their fullest potential – finds deep alignment with the values of unity, justice, and community that are central to the celebrations of Latino/x Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day. As we serve, we honor the collective strength that defines these communities, and we continue our commitment to equity, compassion, and support for all who need us.
Let us take inspiration from the resilience of the people we serve and the deep-rooted cultural traditions that remind us of the importance of family, community, and solidarity. Together, we can continue building bridges of understanding and advocating for justice for those most in need.
In the words of César Chávez, “We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community. Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.”
Thank you for all you do in lifting up our community and advancing our mission.
Happy Latino Heritage Month and Mexican Independence Day.
