Nicole
Cherished St. Joseph Center volunteer Nicole Henke, a 21-year-old junior in Film and Television at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) and a Belles volunteer, typically works with children, making her involvement with the unhoused a new experience. Describing it as “really fun,” Nicole began her time at SJC with the Food Pantry, where she assisted with gift assembly and Thanksgiving deliveries, and is now involved with the Bread and Roses Café.
She deeply values the amazing community atmosphere and the opportunity to connect with diners, considering the Café a special place to give back. A highlight for Nicole has been the strong sense of community among both volunteers and diners, a notable contrast to her usual work environment. She appreciates the welcoming atmosphere and the chance to genuinely serve, calling the Café a
“unique hidden gem.”
