About Chefsgiving
“Bread & Roses was the first thing I could say I graduated from. And that confidence that comes with that is the key to everything that comes next.”
BREAD & ROSES TRAINING KITCHEN
Established in 1991, the Bread & Roses Training Kitchen provides vocational culinary training for low-income, formerly unhoused, and justice-impacted young adults—preparing them for gainful careers in the food sector throughout Los Angeles. The program serves more than 60 students each year, with an 80% full-time hiring rate for those completing internships.
The 12-week program offers a hands-on classical culinary course taught by professional chefs in a state-of-the-art kitchen. Students learn industry best practices, nutrition, preparation techniques, menu development, kitchen operations and safety, and contemporary cooking methods.
Graduates have secured meaningful jobs at restaurants and hospitality partners across Los Angeles, including Dulan’s, Playa Provisions, Terranea Resort, UCLA Dining, and Wolfgang Puck.
